HOST A ROAST

How does it work?

Step 1: Pick your Lineup

• First and most importantly your “Guest of Honor”

• Then pick your “Host” this is usually a spouse or the next closest person to your guest of honor. They will introduce everyone on the lineup during showtime.

• Then pick 4 people close to the guest of honor who at least know each other to some extent

• We’ll send each person in your lineup a questionnaire in which they’ll answer questions about themselves, the guest of honor, and each other. It is important that you answer as many questions as you can!

Step 2: Meet with DTF Comedy

• After you’ve filled out the questionnaire, we’ll have your designated Point of Contact interview your team for about an hour, learning all of the nitty-gritty details about your relationships.

• We’ll need as much info as we can for the next step. SO BE THOROUGH

Step 3: Joke Writing

• Our team gets to work, writing about 10 minutes of scandalously hilarious jokes on EACH person of the lineup. Saving, of course, the juciest of roasts for your guest of honor.

• We script out each of your acts to the letter so that you don’t feel unprepared. You can feel free to go off script, but say what we say, and you’ll look like you’ve been practicing stand-up comedy for years!

• If we have any questions, we’ll be sure to reach out to your group. We want to make sure these jokes have the authenticity of being written by you and your friends.

Step 4: Delivery Coaching

• We’ll meet with each person in your lineup for an hour each and go over every joke. There is a lot of rhythm and nuance in the delivery of a joke - we want to make sure you NAIL IT!

• You can continue to add on delivery coaching per person if you feel like you need more of it.

Step 5: The SHOW

• We can either set up the whole show for you (staging, lighting, audio) or coach you on how to do it on your own! There is absolutely a right and wrong way to do it.

• If you want us to get involved at the show at all - we’re more than happy to help! You can even hire us to do some warm up comedy before or after your roast.
